Chatham man to be sentenced May 26 for aggravated assault in shooting
Jared John Atwell, who initially was charged with attempted murder, was in court Thursday for joint sentencing submissions.
According to previously published reports, Kyle Wright-Morgan was shot about 1 a.m. April 30, 2023 in a clash near King and Fifth streets in downtown Chatham.
Defence lawyer Frank Retar said there were issues with witnesses and his 27-year-old client’s guilty plea should be considered “significant mitigation, for sure.”
