Bouchard’s lawyer Frank Retar said his client, who has a “significant criminal record,” was apologetic to the victim’s family at his sentencing. “He said, ‘Krug was my friend.’”
Retar described the sentence on the lesser charge as “a great result for that kid” and that the prosecution would have had challenges getting convictions for the more serious counts if the matter had gone to trial.
